In a pointed remark during Diwali celebrations, Congress criticized the phone conversation between Trump and Modi, suggesting that the Prime Minister tends to conceal details while Trump reveals them. Trump had called Modi to extend Diwali greetings, and Ramesh took to social media to highlight that the Prime Minister publicly acknowledged the call but only mentioned the festive wishes exchanged.

Ramesh sarcastically noted that while Modi keeps information under wraps, Trump openly shares it. He stated that Trump mentioned not only Diwali greetings but also discussed India's oil imports from Russia, assuring that these imports would cease. According to Ramesh, this marks the fourth instance in six days where Trump has made announcements regarding India's policies.

During a Diwali event at the White House, Trump confirmed his conversation with Modi, stating that India would no longer purchase oil from Russia. In response, Modi expressed gratitude on social media for Trump's call and Diwali wishes, emphasizing the importance of both nations showcasing hope to the world and standing united against all forms of terrorism during this festival of lights.
